Discharged Bankrupt Loans

What is a “discharged bankrupt”?

You will ordinarily find that twelve months after having a bankruptcy order filed against you that you will be automatically discharged. This is dependant on The Official Receiver not applying for a Bankruptcy Restrictions Order and you will be notified of your discharge within four weeks of the event.

The result of this discharge is that you will be freed from most of the debts that you incurred before the bankruptcy order was filed. At this point you will be able to apply for credit without having to mention your bankruptcy.

What debts will you not be freed from?

These debts include:

• Maintenance or personal injury claims.
• Court fines arising from crimes.
• Debts amounted after bankruptcy order has been filed.
• Student loans
